Amazon Changed Its FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon) Service Fees for 2024, and Here’s What You Need to Know.
To begin with, what is Amazon FBA?
FBA stands for Fulfillment By Amazon, a program that is part of “Supply Chain by Amazon.” It is a service that manages logistics for businesses, meaning logistics are handled directly by Amazon. Once a company subscribes to this service, it sends its products to one of Amazon’s fulfillment centers, where Amazon takes care of picking, packing, order shipping, customer service, and returns. All of this is wrapped in the Amazon Prime experience.
Among the advantages of this program are free shipping for the contracting company’s customers, with a promise of delivery within a maximum of two days, and uninterrupted customer service that includes post-sale support.
What is Supply Chain by Amazon?
Supply Chain by Amazon is a fully automated system that manages products throughout the entire supply chain, from manufacturing to final delivery to the customer anywhere in the world. It saves costs and time by enabling rapid shipments and ensures inventory availability thanks to agile logistics processes.
These are the new 2024 fees for the FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon) service:
The fees for the FBA service are determined by three standards: product weight and dimensions without packaging, and product dimensions when packed or with packaging.
At the beginning of 2024, modifications were made to the values assigned to these standards, establishing that:
- Products weighing less than 20 pounds are measured in 2-ounce intervals. This does not apply to the apparel category.
- Products weighing more than 20 pounds are measured in 4-ounce intervals.
- Table of measurements, weight, and product dimensions: These indicators determine the fees for Amazon’s FBA service.

Here’s a refined version of your related questions section:
What is the difference between unit weight and dimensional weight?
- Unit weight is the actual weight of the product when it is fully packed.
- Dimensional weight is an estimated weight based on the product’s dimensions (length, width, and height). Depending on the product category and measurement standards, either unit weight or dimensional weight is used to calculate the total shipment weight.
How is dimensional weight calculated?
To calculate dimensional weight, multiply the product’s length, width, and height (in inches) and divide the result by 139. For large bulky and extra-large items, a minimum width and height of 2 inches is assumed. Amazon applies dimensional weight fees when it exceeds the unit weight for standard sizes (large, large bulky, and extra-large, except for items over 150 lbs). Unit weight fees will apply for small items and extra-large items over 150 lbs.
What is Ships in Product Packaging (SIPP)?
SIPP is a program where products are shipped to customers in their original manufacturer packaging, without any additional Amazon packaging. Products certified under the SIPP program automatically receive lower FBA fulfillment fees per unit. Amazon certifies products that meet the SIPP requirements. For more information and details on how to enroll, visit Amazon’s website.
Starting February 5, 2024, discounted fulfillment fees for SIPP-certified products came into effect.

Will FBA service fees apply to products ordered before the peak season starting on October 15, 2024?
The fees are calculated and charged when the shipment leaves the fulfillment center. If a product is purchased before October 15 but shipped on or after that date, the peak season fees will apply.
How is the product circumference calculated?
The measurement for this unit is equal to 2 x (middle side + shortest side).
