Shipping Companies Price Rises for this Last Semester of 2024
Shipping companies such as USPS, FedEx and UPS keep regularly reviewing their prices so that they’re able to keep up with the worldwide market. For this last semester of 2024 they made some adjustments; down below we’ll be leaving all rates, reports, details and also which dates will they start to implement it if it hasn’t gone effective yet so that you can compare what they can offer for you and your company.
What is changing and when will it become effective?
FedEx: as the gasoline prices are rising, FedEx made some adjustments to their fuel charges and it’s already active since July 1st and updated July 29th, 2024. Due to changes in market conditions, FedEx will be reinstating the Demand Surcharge for specific zones applicable to U.S. international services and implemented since August. 5th, 2024. Check out the updated July 29th rates.
USPS: they introduced two rate changes in July and one to come in September. The first took effect on July 1st, which implemented the following changes to its domestic shipping services:
- Ground Advantage™: Prices will increase for packages under and over 1 pound, with some adjustments as high as $2.11. Cubic pricing for Ground Advantage will also see an increase.
- Priority Mail®: Expect a 5% average increase, with some rates going up to $3.10 more.
- Priority Mail Flats®: Prices will rise by an average of 4%, with some individual rates potentially increasing up to $1.18.
- Priority Mail Cubic®: This service will see the biggest increase, with an average jump of 10% and some rates going up to $2.97 more.
Followed by another alteration on July 14th which adjusted the successive services:
- First Class Mail Forever® stamps will increase from 68 cents to 78 cents.
- First-Class Mail® stamps will increase from 68 cents to 73 cents and prices will increase approximately 7.8%.
Additionally, a recently announced rate change will be implemented on September 16th; which will be modifying Priority Mail and Ground Advantage. This means certain shipping and mailing costs will increase for specific ZIP codes. You can still get discounted rates on most services through ShipStation or by choosing logistics companies like Palletized eHub to help you reduce costs as it compares a lot of delivery companies and automatically gives you the lowest and most convenient price.
UPS: also being affected by gas prices rising, already effective since July 15, 2024, the U.S. Ground Domestic and UPS SurePost® Fuel Surcharge and the U.S. Domestic Air Fuel Surcharge was changed.
The U.S. Ground Domestic and UPS SurePost® Fuel Surcharge will continue to be based on the National U.S. Average On-Highway Diesel Fuel Price and adjusted weekly. The U.S. Domestic Air Fuel Surcharge will continue to be based on the National Average U.S. Gulf Coast Jet Fuel Price and adjusted weekly.
Surge Fee information is now available for review, including Surge Fee rates for certain international shipments effective September 15th, 2024. Surge Fees are subject to change, and Surge Periods may be extended or otherwise changed.
